The equality industry will make clients of us all and damage everyone

Just listening to the news this morning three news items jumped out:

  1. Calls for being Fat to be added to those protected by the equality act, due to the problem of body image with kids.
  2. Lord Browne calls for "more to be done" for Gays in industry. I think I heard quotas and targets mentioned.
  3. Alan Milburn wades into the social mobility debate by calling on professions to encourage people from "poor" backgrounds, especially in Medicine.
Every one of these issues is what my branch of engineering would call a tail pipe solution. All are unable to consider the underlying issue, some of the for fear of the political implications.

Each one demands an extension to the equality policies that make judgements arbitrary and directly remove equal rights from some ( like the right to work in case 2 ) to replace them to their clients.

This sort of discrimination has been tried, and is still undertaken in the United States, where quotas mean if you come from a racial group the state discourages then you won't get to University. If your in the wrong racial group you can't bid for some government contracts. The result is low standards and poor work, but the result has also been a client base for the left of centre Democrat party of people who know in a fair competition they wouldn't have their jobs or businesses, and thus are obliged to keep the protection racked going by supporting the democrats.

It represses freedom, creates deep injustice and provides a guaranteed supporters base to those who set the system up.

You can see why the left (inc the BBC)  are so keen on it.

But remember any dysfunctions in society continues ( for example poor education results from the state system ) and it is only punishing those who have done well by removing their human rights hand them to others. That's a nasty sort of state, and not one any right thinking person should wish on us here in England. But it is where the progressive left are marching us.

Bonfire of the Envies

There has been a festival of beating up on Mr Hester at the RBS's bonus that the last Labour government authorised.

Since much of left wing politics is based on the unjustifiable optimism of lefties brains combined with their rejection of God and all morality ( though they are too igniorant to realise it ) they can be forgiven for using envy in the way little Red Ed has been doing.

Nick Clegg is a prize hypocrite since he has enjoyed his tax free EU salary and benefits and is fabulously wealthy by most of our standards and will go on to be rewarded for selling his countrymen out to his EU masters for the rest of his life.

Mayor Bojo is a chump for playing the envy card, and his willingness to sell out principles for expediency will have been noted in certain circles.

But the prize for stupidity and moral cowardice goes to David Cameron. Its the prime minsters job, often, to tell the public and voters what they don't want to hear. In doing so he ( but lets face it only she in living memory ) is doing their duty to the nation. David Cameron has failed to spell the facts of life out to an indulgged electroate. Instead modernising by allowing the politics of envy to go unchallanged ( must have played well with the focus groups ).

In addition with have the dangerous idea that the rich should pay for the state so that those who benefit from it most don't have to. The problem with this should be obvious to any conservative- you create a left voting majority which is suicidally committed to economic narcissism in the name of greed and envy ( carefully rapped up with words like investment, fairness, free etc ).

David Cameron should have been explaining why just taxing the rich more to tax those who benefit less won't work, but instead the siren voices of the modernisers and focus groups have called him onto the wrecking rocks of socialism.

He's becoming Ted Heath - it will take 15 years to sort this mess out.

Update: Hester has capitulated and the anti-Capitalist mob can chalk up another self inflicted injury on the UK. ( Remember Hester earned that bonus by saving us vastly more money - but when your committed to making everyone poor and miserable that's hardly going to stop the left, and the weak weak weak Ted Heath moderniser fan club who are so scared of them. )

A sign that Labour have given up on the country - for now

Labour are now discussing policies that are electorally suicidal openly before a general election. Clearly they have given up on winning this time.

Specifically forms of wealth tax lead by she of the private education and selective education for her children Harriet Harman ( who tried to blame it on her family vote - neglecting to remind people her husband is a well know trade unionist who was treasurer of the Labour party ).

These are just the sort of policies that would have Project Blair spinning round in fury. They understand what Mondeo man thinks of them.

But Labour no longer cares.

The new policy is to hurt the people as much as possible and lie to them and hope that the blame for the remedy will hurt the Tories too and limit them to one term in government.

In the mean time there's the few Labour activists left to be pandered to with the hate and envy that makes up for the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of socialism. You'll notice this is a pattern - Labour supporters when presented with over whelming evidence of the evil results of their creed gather together to put their fingers in their ears - hum real loud and remind each other why they hate the Tories ( as the lives of millions are ruined by their policies ).

The truth has been unavoidable since the fall of socialism in 1989 in Berlin. Socialism is a selfish creed whose adherents know they are wrong, but prefer to delude themselves and hurt others for the power of ordering people around and having their own way.

That's why John Major was right to call Socialism "the ideology that dare not speak its name" after the fall of the iron curtain. But it was also advice they used to invent the raft of stealth policies that Labour have now implemented - mass immigration, destroying educational standards to justify social engineering, destroying the military, using human rights to destroy the old structures of society, using the tax and benefit system to punish marriage, using the law to make orthodox Christian views a crime if you admit them in the name of other rights and setting up an oppression system that will b very useful for them latter on.

But our socialists who have hidden and deceived their way back into power continue their project by stealth using climate change, diversity, equality and social mobility as their excuses.

The results are only too evident as the Brown/Blair project decays in front of our eyes and their bloody minded selfishness refuses to allow a government that could help the country until the last possible moment.

Update: Also see Melanie Phillips on "We were fools to think the fall of the Berlin Wall had killed off the far Left. They're back - and attacking us from within" - as ever she makes the point much better than I can.

Further: Apparently Labour's private polling is suggesting they could be reduced to 120 seats. This confirms the sudden panic to shore up core vote.

Brown and Obama favour the big banks heavily regulated - I wonder why ?

Nationalisation has until very recently been out, and yet one of the main aims of the socialist has been to control the banks.

Thanks to the mismanagement of Bush and Brown ( with supporting roles from the Middle East and China fuelling the asset bubble all this was built upon ) our banks where challenged in such a way that we could not let them fail.

The socialists ( Obama and Brown via the G20 ) think these means state control of a few large banks that will eventually be instructed what to do ( which is where more regulation will go eventually ).

The free marketer want smaller banks that can go bust without tax payer intervention. ( As argued for by Mervyn King this week )

So its corporatism and socialism vs freedom and the free market. An interesting, if familiar, dividing line ...

Have Labour already arranged over draft facilities with the IMF ?

As ever with Brown, its the small print you need to look out for. His father may have been a honest man, a man of the cloth, but his son operates by deceit, sub-defuse, misdirection, smear and straight lies and betrayal. He is a creature of the socialist left, which doesn't seek understanding and popular ( let alone democratic ) support, just power achieved through patronage, control of information, bullying and fear.

There are reports of Peter Mandelson talking about taking away the stigma of getting money from the IMF yesterday. The G20 has also created a fund that can be drawn down from the IMF - under the cover of doing something for the third world. (Much as extreme left wing agitation now hides under the green banner. )

The current corrupted government lead by Brown has been having trouble selling our children into debt to win the next election, having to print money to buy the short terms gilts and being unable to sell the all the long term variety. More cash is urgently needed, and as inflation takes of to destroy the middle classes they hate so much, the argument of fighting deflation will no longer hold for having a cash machine which is really a printer in the Treasury. So its the IMF next, sooner or later ( which means before or after the general election as that's all they care about).

Many of us on the right assumed that the involvement of the IMF would be the final proof that Labour had failed. But no, the spin masters of "the narrative" are getting to work to try to diffuse this moment the same way that Brown betrayal of his country and oath breaking from his manifesto was "handled" when he sneaked in late to carry out his treason signing the Lisbon constitution treaty.

And of course the BBC ( no one from the centre right available for Newsnight ) and Channel 4 ( its the end of Thatcherism hurray ) will help their friends in Labour all they can.

There is going to be a real fight for the nations soul against a force and movement that hides its aims, denies straight facts, deceives, spins and tells straight lies to the voters faces.

Its a battle I wish I was more sure of us winning.

Update: This issue is now going mainstream. Those unprincipled shameless ******** who have sold us into debt are going to ruin this country for the whole life times oif anyone old enough to read these words.

Its not an election these people need to be defeated in - they should be convicted in court for criminal incompetence and treason.

The left want to destroy your child to help generate the socialist distopia they crave

Lefties keep dropping hints about the next bit of class war they want to get into. Yes its time to stick the middle classes children into sink schools to destroy their life chances. Only then will everyone perform so badly that socialism can be achieved.

Philip Hunter, England's chief schools adjudicator, says that choice is divisive. Whether that choice is by better information or by people competing economically by housing location.

So what is it about the less well performing schools that makes them perform badly ? Could it be the teachers ? In general I doubt it and so probably does Mr Hunter or else he would be calling for the rotation of teaching staff not pupils.

It might be ability - those who have able parents may tend to be more able themselves. Don't argue with me - argue with Charles Darwin. The left get very excited about creationism, but seem to believe in some sort of malevolent intelligent design in how children inherit their parents characteristics - ie only hair colour and features but not intelligence.

Given some random distribution of gifts surely the way forward would be keeping some places open at good schools for gifted children. Even assisted places ? But of course that doesn't meet the left 'hate' criteria - not enough people (preferably Tories) suffer that way. And anyway what about schools with less academically gifted children ?

The answer should be curriculum. Other countries show us that far more can be achieved with education and training than we manage. Forget the stupid plan for 50% to university and messing up the qualifications system to an extent that it can't be used to determine anything at all.

But none of this means anything without school discipline. And the government through human rights legislation and the educational establishment has made the control of children nearly impossible in some areas. At best schools can just contain them.

As I have said before one child can ruin the education of the other 29. Spread everyone out by lottery and nobody learns, everyone suffers and the misery of socialism will truly have arrived.

Behaviour is the problem - not class, schools, teachers or money. But our liberal politicians have constructed a system of laws and polices which preclude solving this issue.

And they wonder why professional English people are emigrating ! Soon it will be the only sane action for someone who doesn't want their children's future destroyed by the left. (You can be sure people will already be relocating away from Brighton.)

Update:

As an aside this looks very interesting. Perhaps its part of the inspiration for the academy programme. The bit I like is it doesn't throw kids on the street at 2:30pm like my local secondary does ! ( Also see ABC's news report here ). This sort of approach is much more positive than the lets wreck things for everyone approach the vindictive left wants.

Gordon Brown and the body snatchers

Socialism believes your life, your soul (which of course the left thinks doesn't exist anyway,), and all your assets (of course) belong to those wise people who lead the peoples government - like people's champion Peter Hain.

As an example Gordon Brown is backing the plan the government has to remove your organs from your body without your consent - or presentably your relatives.

And people thought the Chinese were bad for using the organs of executed prisoners !

( Don't get me wrong - Organ donation is noble and life saving. But it should also be voluntary and with consent. )

Back to the 70's with Gordon !

The pattern is now emerging of how an unrestrained Gordon Brown government will work. Tony Blair kept the mad lunatic locked up in the Treasury and stopped his more Luddite socialist plans. But now there no one to tell Gordon what to do socialist command and control is coming back with avengeance.

There are more 10 year plans knocking about than you can shake a stick at. The Bank of England has been bypassed and the powers are being prepared for the government to take over the banks when they think its necessary. ( Oh yes they say its only for failing banks - after all the FSA can run a bank better than its management can't it [ think of the FSA's past glories a bit harder if you think the answer to that question was yes ]).

You can see the scene - Gordon Brown standing on the steps of No10 announcing he has just taken control of the banks in the national interest and that all our money is now guaranteed by the government ( something that it says on the bank notes anyway - and its a lie there also ) due to the current finaial crisis. Some of the banks assets will be used to pay for the peoples services such as the NHS and police during the current crisis [really to pay public sector pensions] - but it will all be paid back, but just for the moment no one can withdraw more than £100/day from their bank. [ Do you think this is extreme ? Well its what happened in Argentina only a few years ago - remember Gordon Brown hasn't hesitated to spend £10Billion/year of future pensioners income fire hosing cash around an unreformed public sector ].

The left always wanted to nationalise the banks back in the 1970's - which is where Gordon Brown's new incomes policy comes from. Yes - the concordat is back. 3 year pay deals according top Gordon all knowing master plan. ( If they get away with 3 - it won't be long before they go for 5 years ). A canny trade union official was on the radio saying that if he meant RPI+ then all would be OK - but we know Gordon means either flat rate or CPI+ , ie transferring the risk of inflation onto public sector workers, which they won't stand for.

This also shows they know inflation is going to be a lot more shocking than they are letting on - yet still they push for the castrated Bank of England MPC to reduce rates. Perhaps they have a plan for an election this year before the disaster becomes all too clear.

Gordon's gone away for Christmas and come back with the Labour manifesto from 1979, and is busy sending the economy back there also.

Where is Mrs T when you need her ?

Update: John Redwood thinks Alistair Darling's of back to the 70's also in his post here. The comment I think is most significant comes at the end when he says;

"Unfortunately we have a Chancellor who sees his role as being part of the media commentary on the situation, instead of the key player trying to lift a losing team."

Quite - this is the root of much of Labour's troubles they think they are in power to win elections, hence they appoint PR gurus as strategic advisers and make policy to get headlines rather than govern.

Diploma in government social engineer launched by government

Using the rather obvious ploy of saying their new diploma will be worth more than 3 'A' levels for University entrance "because we say so" the government is moving to fix its social engineering ideas on Universities. ( As of course no one will want to switch before the course are established - poorer candidates will start the diploma and get grade inflation built in. Allowing Gordon Browns/Balls wish to crush the life chances of middle class kids so that socialism can be achieved .)

Surely Universities should be allowed to matriculate as they wish ? Not in the land of Balls.

The only outcome from this will be more interview testing and more Universities setting their own exams as they can trust the government of Balls and Brown.

If they weren't trying to pull as fast one they would have introduced new 'A' levels for different subjects. If pupils can't handle 'A' levels they have no business going to University, as its going to be academically harder.

This change is all about government determining who goes to University and which University and stopping talent and hard work being the determining factors. 'A' Levels are unpopular with the educational establishment as they make the social engineering and punishing of children because of who their parents are harder to achieve - not that Labour haven't tried that already with their how were your parents educated part of the UCAS form.

Remember - Labour hate your children, at the same time they are getting private/selective education for their own. Lets see where Balls & Cooper send their kids ....

New Labour and Brezhnev

Lenin, Stalin and Brezhnev were travelling on the Moscow underground when the train shuddered, creaked and stopped.

Lenin said - the driver must be re-educated to become a new
man - then the train will move. So of he went to try - but the train stayed still.

Stalin said - the driver is a traitor to socialism and a counter revolutionary, he must be shot - and off Stalin went to shot the driver, but still the train didn't move.

Brezhnev said - I'll paint the windows of the train black - and tell people the train is moving !

Now before you laugh - remember New Labour is all about creating its own reality:

They don't spend on the NHS - they invest - mostly in salaries apparently,
Education, education, education ( yet we learn that primary and secondary schools are failing )
Standards at GCSE and A'Levels are always improving ( yet we now need an independent board as no one believes them any more ).
Devolution will quell nationalism ( but the Nats are now in government in at three devolved assemblies working towards the end of the UK ).
The Tories would cut the NHS - make up your own figure here - Gordon always does ( yet Gordon Brown cut £2Billion from the English NHS last year - but didn't make the corresponding Barnett formulae cuts to Wales and Scotland ).
The military can have whatever they want in Afghanistan ( except helicopters, ammunition, and yet there are no dedicated medivac helicopters, armoured vehicles are only just being purchased - troops have to pay council tax when out of the country - despite the small one of rebate - and are lucky to be able to vote - over 66% couldn't at the last general election ).
We have a vision for the future ( taken from watching the Conservative conference apparently)

New Labour has all been about perceptions - its great politics- its mostly lies - and its crap government.
