Less Tax + no cuts = more debt

Announcements from Labour so far:

  • Cuts are evil - kitten murdering Tories and making too many and too soon.
  • Unpopular taxes are evil - like VAT ( even though they planned to raise it also )

How are they planning on funding this fools paradise ?

Debt

And of course the plan to get elected is to deny this fact.

So the Irish have voted for ...

... someone else to pay.

This will be interesting !

PS It is a the Achilles heal of democracy that the fantasy that you can vote for "someone else" to pay and that so many parties cater for that delusion.

#TheUnions vs The People

In the US the real reason for failed public services and bankrupt tears of government is coming home the roost, see below.

How long before this happens in the UK ? Or did Gordon bribe enough people with their own money and make the public payroll so large that only financial destruction awaits us ?

Feeling defenceless

A quick note, as I'll be off to the local Chinese takeaway in a minute.

Its striking the number of media articles and letters all complaining about the defence cuts that have come out based on the Libya evacuation fiasco. ( Caused it seems by ineffective civil servants - the product of Labour's emphasis on political correctness over effectiveness no doubt. )

Some complain about the absence of Ark Royal and its Harriers - without mentioning that it would be extremely vulnerable to air attack as Labour scrapped the Sea Harriers that at least had a air to air capability to make most air forces think twice. The ground attack Harriers just wouldn't be able to stop a determined air attack or for that matter defend themselves against a half decent air force.

Some complain about the low supplies in the armed forces and over stretch ( see Blair's wars and the Army's willingness to play along for the sake of a role ).

Then we have the bellyaching over Nimrods - without anyone paying much attention to the monumental waste of money and balls up that the Nimrod MR4 project has been. Apparent each aircraft had different parts and none were air worthy !

Then remember the debt. Yes the debt the repayments each year on which now dwarfs our defence budget.

If we are now defenceless - its because Labour wanted us that way.

We will have to sit out the next few wars as we rebuild our balance sheet, rebuild our stores, lick our wounds and prepare for the future without being betrayed by the monumental incompetence of the MOD.

We may well have to live through some nasty incidents and humiliations in the mean time - but its all necessary if we are to remain a sovereign ( ie solvent ) nation.

I'm all for a strong defence - but we need to acknowledge the depth of the disaster Labour have left us with and set about the very painful and not without its dangers job of putting things right.

We must also ensure that Labour and the worms like Ed Miliband are not allowed to escape their share of the blame for the weak state they have left the country in.

Gaddafi is haunting Labour

In the last few hours an ex Libyan minister has told a Swedish newspaper that Gaddafi ordered the Lockerbie bombing.

We know they shot WPC Yvonne Feltcher.

We know they gave the IRA the deadly Semtex and other heavy weapons.

And we know that Labour made it their business to forgive them, and do business with their Colonel.

Blair, Brown, Mandelson and even others all made sucking up to Gaddafi a top priority. Getting the convicted mass murder out early was the least they could do.

But Labour are now just a little embarrassed so wee "disaster area" Dougie Alexander after the fiasco of his Newsnight interview is trying to save his possible future highly paid public office by snipping on charter aircraft and evacuations.

I'm glad this is causing Labour so much pain - but its not nearly enough in my view.

The UK MSM is catching up: "Libya's Gaddafi DID personally order Lockerbie bombing and I have PROOF, claims former Justice minister" Daily Mail

Annoucing what you are going to say before you say it is damaging out democracy

But only because the media reports it.

A new trick was invented in the days of New Labour. To ensure that no opposition spokesperson should get a look in on an announcement they pre-announced speeches.

Those who wanted to react had nothing to react against. They needed to wait for the text to be read out to be sure nothing would get changed at the last moment. By that time the key message was out unchallenged in the media and the story was old hat.

A great move for all those spin doctors, but its destroyed debate.

Today we have Ed Miliband pre-announcing an attack on the future of the English NHS ( delivered perversely from the Welsh Labour conference - the Welsh NHS thanks to its more socialism model kills far more of its victims than event the English one does ).

Its all designed to sent out unchallenged sound-bites into the media. No wonder politics is in such an awful mess these days. ( And lets be clear all sides now do this ).

The dangers of revolution and Obama

Nial Ferguson suggests Egypt has been a failure of inexperience and policy. Given how often the US has damaged its allies and let its enemies of the hock under the Obama Whitehouse I think we have to consider that damaging the Western World may be Obama foreign policy.

H/T To anon who pointed to this in a previous post's comments.

Salaries many of us could only dream of for political non-jobs

At last the government is taking the fight to the, mostly, left wing parasites in local government.

Like Communist party officials with their Dacha's and special shops local government officials have been replicating non-jobs for over paid left wing Guardian readers at a frightening rate.

Now when we are forced to make cuts by the monumental and immoral stupidity of the last Labour government they would rather rob the poor and disadvantaged of their services than cut back on their fat cat life styles.

This is true "left wing" politics in this country - see Liverpool, Manchester and Camden councils for obvious examples.

At last this message has moved beyond the fantastic Tax Payer's Alliance to the mainstream media. See this article in today's Telegraph. Or purchase last week Spectator.

Update: And it appears those sanctimonious hypocrites the LFib Dems have the biggest Fat Cat kept by one of their councils. Remember that the next time a leaflet from - say Woking Lib Dems - drops through your door.

A hard nosed view

Over two decades ago I was being trained as a recent graduate in a large integrated oil company. After weeks of technical lecturing and exercises came a brief few days when the wider issues of the company were introduced.

I, along with the other graduates, learned that the company brand was a key asset and also how the company did its long term planning for the future - a technique called scenarios ( if your in the now you'll now recognise which company I'm referring to ).

There were two key world views used a scenarios - one that the world would come together to save the planet with environmentalism being the key factor with nations cooperating for the greater good (option A - sustainable world ) and the other essentially saying making money and trade between regional blocks would dominate (option B - global mercantilism ).

The guys based in Europe and America most, the chemicals and refinery groups, thought the world would go green. The exploration and production guys - who had actually meet the world and had to deal with them - though option B was on the cards, on a good day.

Why do I mention this ? Well hearing all the enthusiasm the BBC/Guardian types are getting for revolutions for democracy in the middle east I start to wonder if they've done business there. Do they know how the people think and what cultural influence predominate ?

More experienced people know things are about to turn potentially very ugly, and they should be listened to. The wet liberals will lose interest in their new twitter revolution playthings within a week (just ask the marsh Arabs), what follows may be in place for 50 years and it is more likely than not it will be worse than what it replaces.

Update: Of course some in the MSM are getting a nasty education in the realities of the region.

The shame of our Nurses

The BBC can hardly bring itself to name the problem. Reports talk about the NHS failing to treat the Elderly well. But the truth is that its nurses that don't treat elderly people well.

This morning I heard a BBC presenter interviewing the author of this report, Ann Abraham, trying to tie in cuts to the picture, but she was rebuffed by the author who has clearly said this is nothing to do with money.

Its to do with the way elderly people are viewed by the young.

If nurses have an excuse - its that their failing is also that of our society. The Fascist upbringing of our youth with their cult of self fed by eager marketers and educators in equal measure is in part to blame.

The empty morality of the pick and mix religious view pushed especially by Labour, but continued by the current government is to blame.

People who don't fear being judged for their actions and have no respect for their elders just decide that "I don't do mess". Since in the case of Nurses rather than starting as apprentices under the watchful eye of senior staff they go to University and indulge the cult of self for another three years rather than learning about being selfless this is no surprise.

Here the hard truth that dare not speak its name. Our nurses as a vocational group should be ashamed, if they still knew how to behave - but instead they will hit back and hit out.

The truth is this isn't about money, its about morality and its widespread absence and our societies failure.

PS I have no trouble thinking of a number of recent cases I know of that back the report of Ann Abraham up. It would not surprise me if that isn't the general case.

See also: Julia Manning who says "what has happened to society if we need to be trained to ‘care’ for the vulnerable?".

Lunch time reading

I was half way through a new post when I cam across this article.

Here a quote - "Far too many young people are wasting precious years in a university system taken hostage by the cult of egalitarianism, when in fact they could be doing something useful with their brains."

Its well worth a read this lunch time. I have to pinch myself that its in the left-wing Independent.

Update: And perhaps its also worth finding out why the Chinese are convinced we're lying to them about our education system.

We should be fighting the tentacles of the parasite

I'm very disturbed by the news that the crude social engineering in university admissions for triangulation initiative is being permitted to appease the Lib Dems. What this really amounts to is quotas, where the government decides politically who deserves to go to which university.

This for of government favour will inevitably become a negotiating point as parties compete to exchange places for votes.

What is worse is its something Labour never dared to do in its 13 years in office. But now its been established and accepted by the Coalition, we can expect Labour to go further when they get back into power - which is very likely to be within the next five years.

The problem has been identified by Benedict Brogan well earlier this week - the tentacles of the state now reach everywhere. Everyone's a client - from tax credits, sure start centres, green energy subsidies, free other peoples cash for kids initiatives, bus passes for bribing voters etc. Just as everyone's a victim who need rights from the state to keep their place in society ( gays, students with poor grades but good political contacts (see David Miliband), Muslims, Atheists etc etc ).

Any if everyone's a client of the state, then they will vote for the party that keeps the state big and well fed - regardless of the fact it hurts more people than it helps ( you see socialism has figured out how to tie into peoples selfish nasty nature also ).

A Conservative government should be hacking of the tentacles of the state like a crazed axeman, because the pendulum will swing and soon Labour will be checking how their ratchet policies worked and planning the next step to universal poverty and destitution.

But being tied to the deadbeat Lib Dems is making that impossible. And if we can't do that effectively then we are doing more harm than good.

So whilst I was a supporter of the Coalition thinking the economic crisis demanded putting the nation first, I'm no longer convinced that's what we're doing and the concerns of not fighting the cancerous state back out weigh the issue of a potential crisis.

Perhaps the crisis can't be avoided any more, as without it no one will accept the necessary measures.

I asked myself at the start of this government if David Cameron would turn out to be more of a Ted Heath or a Margaret Thatcher - I'm afraid that thanks to Nick Clegg and the dismal Lib Dems it look like we've got a Ted and the big crisis will have to come to give us the government we need. That will take about 10 years and will lead to much suffering and anguish.

The priority for political activists on the right has to therefore be long term politics, a period of time in which party allegiance becomes a variable, because it looks very much like worse is yet to come. And to dig us out of the hole socialism and its appeasers are creating in this country is going to require coherent ideology and courage, not fuzzy triangulation and appeasement.

I've said before that in my nightmares Peter Hitchens is right. Well things are frightening enough, I'm now wondering why I can't wake up...

If the Navy can't handle the pirates, let the Army do it

How come the combined navies of the developed world are being outfoxed by a bunch of fishermen with AK45s and RPGs ?

The answer lies in their reliance on their equipment and toys.

Clearly expensive frigates and destroyers aren't doing the job. However some men armed on each ship should.

Send the Navies home and put some squaddies with a Milan atw on each ship and see how long the Somali pirates still want to stay in business.

Not only would it be more effective - but it would be cheaper also.

Only self interest by the senior service is stopping it.

Worth a read - how local councils are cutting public services rather than their own lifestyles

Somebody in the Coalition needs to start the business of politics going seriously, as this article point out.

This isn't a triangulation emoting issue. Tell Steve Hilton to shut up and wheel out those who can communicate directly and with aggressive force.

The public debate must be won and parasitic town hall socialism defeated.

Debt, not 'cuts', will destroy society

What a wonderful life it is for the BBC. Every morning they just have to trawl though the words from press releases and speeches in electronic format and look for the word "cuts" and they have a story ready for the morning news.

Since someone else will have said it, they can use the fig leaf that they are just reporting. Its impartial after all right ?

Everyone who's budget is being cut, or in many case not increased, is squealing. Local councils etc are offering up the "Red Arrows*" defence of bus and other high profile cuts whilst protecting their diversity and community cohesion managers for climate change.

But almost never do we have any reporting of the impact of the debt. Reporting on Ireland and Greece has gone quiet in BBC land.

Soon we will pay more in debt interest than on education. ( But of course you'll never see Socialist Worker banners handed out saying this to gullible students being reported on by the likes of Paul Mason. )

Its debt that will destroy our country as well sell tomorrow to bribe our today.

Where's the BBC investigation of what it could be like if our currency collapsed ? Where the consideration of what debt will do to future generations ? The inter-generational theft Nick Clegg has mentioned ?

Not from the BBC you can be sure. The BBC just has its left wing agenda to bring about another Labour government and destroy our country yet further with the sclerosis of debt.

* The Red Arrows defence is the ploy by which a government department or body always offers up the cut that will create the most publicity. Hence a cut in the RAF will mean the Red Arrows are under threat as they are much loved by the public ( oddly didn't happen this time, but it has on many other occasions ).

Update: It turns out the story that inspired this post on the BBC ( about evil kitten murdering cuts from bastard Tories of course ) has dropped down their running order. I wonder if its because its being pointed out that the source is a long time Labour supporter ?

Can you trust the BBC's Emma Jay ?

Read this post on the Biship Hill Blog and be careful of her reassurances if your views deviated from the BBC left wing and warmist world viewpoint.

New Progressive Change !

There I've said it before anyone else tries to.

Since the Obama marketing campaign was so successful in the US a while back the politicos have all been trying to use the word "change".

Of course they are always really vague on what the change is going to be or to where its heading.

We have David Miliband joining the creepy "Movement for Change" as a clear example, but to be fare David Cameron is hardly innocent here.

Its the New Labour obsession with media manipulation and the subconscious communication in the place of political argument thing that's to blame. ( Again Conservatives just as guilty these days with guff like Vote Blue go Green.)

I guess Change was the new New, but now this seasons mindless adjective that justifies no explanation is looking like Progressive.

Judging by the sudden attempts to use the word "progressive" with the loyal ranks of mindless only following orders Labour online activists perhaps were about to get Progressive Labour soon.

But all it means is that no one will ever focus on political argument - just mood music as they chase the ill informed to ensure they get their chance at all the goodies of government as the country slowly slips down the league table of nations under the weight of its debts and denials.

Is Obama creating the US's own Suez crisis ?

You have to wonder what Obama is really up to. Revolution in Egypt is in few people's interests, except perhaps the Muslim Brotherhood with its Nazi supporting past and Jihadi supporting present.

But the needle stuck in the "change" grove over on Pennsylvania Avenue.

So is the US ready to contemplate military intervention on a large scale in the rest of the middle east ? Because that's what "change" is likely to bring about.

Fast "change" is very much not in US interests - but when have the long term interests of the US been Obama's concern ?

Our American cousins would do well to remember that Suez has brought about the effective end of the largest empire the world has ever seen, and is capable of doing the same for them ( though of course the irony would be great due to the US betrayal of its allies in the Suez crisis - this time round it might be the refusal of those same allies to support the US that returns the favour ).
