The Rally Against Debt

Just back from the Rally Against Debt in the old palace yard opposite Parliament. Here are a few pics from my not so great camera phone ....

All went well - turn out was respectable. I'm told 300 was mentioned on the radio, but frankly I didn't count. The key thing is perhaps who attended rather than numbers as its spreading the message that we can't keep stealing from our children's futures that needs to get through, and for that to happen motivated people need to spread the message.

The problem with the national debt is that its a slow boiling frog issue. Because the increase is gradual its hard to get the public to properly engage with the issue. This leaves the playing field open to the special interest groups, special pleaders and apocalyptic socialists who actively seek the crisis we are heading towards.

So what can be done ?

Update: Petitions in circulation has 400-500 signatures. The BBC reported 350 there. No a mistake they make on left wing demos. Maybe right of centre people are partially invisible to BBC eyes.

Salaries many of us could only dream of for political non-jobs

At last the government is taking the fight to the, mostly, left wing parasites in local government.

Like Communist party officials with their Dacha's and special shops local government officials have been replicating non-jobs for over paid left wing Guardian readers at a frightening rate.

Now when we are forced to make cuts by the monumental and immoral stupidity of the last Labour government they would rather rob the poor and disadvantaged of their services than cut back on their fat cat life styles.

This is true "left wing" politics in this country - see Liverpool, Manchester and Camden councils for obvious examples.

At last this message has moved beyond the fantastic Tax Payer's Alliance to the mainstream media. See this article in today's Telegraph. Or purchase last week Spectator.

Update: And it appears those sanctimonious hypocrites the LFib Dems have the biggest Fat Cat kept by one of their councils. Remember that the next time a leaflet from - say Woking Lib Dems - drops through your door.

Inflated salaries in local government

I'm online researching a question right now and came across the following video by Mike Denham over at the Tax Payers alliance ( from March 2007 I think ).

It really is time that something was done about local government and the quasi government gravy train.
