Dan is right on the money - as he often is

There are various articles in the press attacking the weak weak weak coalition government and its gutless surrender to self defeating socialist envy.

So far I like this from Dan Hannan the best ... recommended reading.

How the BBC makes the news

There's an interesting post by Dan Hannan today where he describes the sort of calls he's been getting from BBC researchers who are fishing for evidence for the story they want to run - read Dan here.

We know from former BBC employees and from facebook profiles that the BBC is an institutionally left wing organisation many of whom's staff go on to careers in left wing parties.

So when they try to create the news like this ( in this case splits with David Cameron and the new coalition ) its going way beyond their brief.

Its fine for the Guardian, Mirror and Independent to do this sort of thing - after all they are left wing newspapers, but the BBC is supposed to be impartial and operate to inform opinion not lead it.

But we all know the reality is very different.

So here's one of my greatest disappointments about the new Lib Dem - Conservative coalition, which is that the BBC won't get sorted out this time as the Lib Dems will protect it.

The day of reckoning is now at least 5 years hence and that is a great shame for our democracy and for the licence fee payers.

This is just why I admire Dan Hannan

Personnelly I think he's onto something really important, and I hope he's right about David Cameron understanding it.

How the left frame the debate

You can see the same thing being done with anyone who questions the NHS and its outcomes.

The problem I have with the left is they see politics the same way a holigan sees football - as a great chance for a fight.

They don't care what happens, as long as they win. Hence they're just not intrested in the dicussion and learning something - just winning the deabte using their bully heavy handed tactics.

These have been misfiring for the Labour party recently as I've commented on Conservative home. But still Labour still have their heads stuck in the sand.

I have to conclude that many of them just don't understand or are too selfish to admit to the obvious failure of the last 12 years. ( Maybe a few are hardened revolutionaries who are trying to drag us all down so that their beloved revolution and its inevitable terror can come about ).

An interview with Dan Hannan

I just watched this US interview over at play political and think its worth taking a look. I can't help thinking that Dan Hannan will be a very influential figure in out politics over the coming decades.



Update: There is of course a political row about this with the usual intellectual thuggery and intimation from Labour because Hannan mentions Enoch Powell and the NHS. Labour will do anything and I mean anything for votes - if it means trying to close down debate and destroy democracy then you can rely on the parasitic careerist of the Labour party to do the smearing and misrepresentation needed to hold onto their fat salaries and gold plated pensions that they would never ever earn in the real world.
