Daily Telegraph confused by child seat safety laws

Now this is embarrassing.

The DT, Matthew Moore, is saying that most parents don't know the law on child seat usage.

They say:"All children under the age of 12 or less than 4ft 5ins tall must be sitting on a raised seat when riding in a car "

But the law is that children must use these seats "until they reach EITHER their 12th birthday OR 135cm in height"

Those of you with a knowledge of logic will realise they are different things.

For example a child of 11 who is 6ft is required to have a child seat according to the DT's version.

I assume someone will point this out to them ( I seem to have been banned from comment on their pages - must have been asking why Mary Riddell writes for the Telegraph one too many times ;-) ).

But it also shows that the quality of the output and checking from the Telegraph is dropping along with the increase in their pro-Labour stories. Could the two be related ?

Just what is it with Mary Riddell and Gordon Brown

As a number of people have mentioned something odd has happened to the Telegraph.

People who would normally live out their lives at the Guardian / Independent / BBC are now regularly writing articles.

The top puzzle is Mary Riddell. She seems to have the "hugging Gordon Brown" brief at the Labourgraph right now.

When I first started seeing her articles, like many others leaving comments I asked what on earth she was doing writing for the Telegraph ? It must have caused offence since my comments appear to be banned ( though it would seem reasonable to let those who have been cast into the Telegraph's outer darkness know why they're banned, but they don't have to. )

So now, right on queue we have the following article:

Its just breath taking stuff ( as well as a very odd commercial tactic for the Telegraph. Just mention the name of Gordon Brown in Surrey right now and you have a near riot on your hands - he's not very popular with the DT readership ).

The Telegraph summarises her role as: Mary Riddell keeps a careful eye on the Labour government as well as writing about social policy, childhood and criminal justice.

In my opinion, which you won't find allowed on the Telegraph's site any more, she seems to be more supporting that government rather than providing insight into it.

She finished her article about why there's no one better than Gordon Brown for Labour with; "If Labour is to have a prayer of avoiding electoral disaster, MPs must abandon the politics of make-believe. On the day some saviour is parachuted into Number 10, then pigs will really fly."

Well as we know Swine Flu is spreading around the country ....

Who's side is the Daily Telegraph on these days ?

Yesterday we had by-election to cost 200k ( nicely timed to depress turnout and give David Davis problems), but no corresponding analysis of Hazel Blears plans for multiple local referendums ( which would cost far more ). More do they explore the cost of "the people's referendums.

Today it what makes an English Eccentric - with David Davis presented as a prime example.

The DT is being to pick up the tag the Labourgraph, and you can see why.

Update: Oh and the article on voter turnout today - with associated quotes - takes another swipe.

The Telegraph now appears to act for Labour and condemn England

I'm appalled by the efforts of the Telegraph to support Gordon Brown.

They are now trying to crush the renaissance of English identity with a Brown saving campaign for Britishness - see this from the Press Association:

Telegraph Media Group said that to highlight the situation it would be promoting Britishness through a series of initiatives to raise awareness.

Iain Martin, group executive editor of Telegraph Media Group, said: "The Telegraph launches a patriotic campaign - Call Yourself British - with a very simple aim: to celebrate Britishness and stimulate projects which will weaken those who want to tear this great partnership asunder.

This fails to acknowledge that the problem is that national identities are promoted by the government for every nation in the UK except the English.

I'm amazed that the Telegraph group is going the "British regions" campaign of Gordon Brown designed to balkanise and humiliate England.

In addition they have appointed a left wing journalist to their political team and we now regularly get New Labour propaganda published in the comments section.

I leave your imagination to try to explain what is going on ....

The Telegraph web site being assaulted in DoS attack

Hat tip to Elle who has pointed me toward the explanation for the inaccessibility of the Telegraph web site today(Hat tip also to the Times Online) - its being attacked in a denial of service assult.

This is a sign of the times (no pun intended), but also a direct assault on British freedom of the press.

Its odd it happens just now ......

Anyone else having trouble getting to The Telegraph today ?

Its web site has been very slow or inaccessible all morning. Now I know Team Cameron are falling out with the DT - but this is perhaps a bit extreme ;-) .

Anyone know what the real problem is ? (They don't have their routers on the Cutty Sark do they ? )

Update: Seems to be OK again now.

Nope its rubbish again today.

Further update - Elle has pointed at this article on The Times web site. It seems The Telegraph is being attacked in a denial of service attack. Nobody knows by who or why - yet.
