Rowan Williams says its our fault for being confused

Many times we get the politicians non-apology. You know the sort of thing - I'm sorry if the misunderstanding of my words has caused offence - which actually means its all your fault for being too stupid to understand.

The BBC quotes him as follows:

Dr Williams told clergy and lay people at the Church of England synod in Westminster he believed "some of what has been heard is a very long way indeed from what was actually said".

"But I must of course take responsibility for any unclarity in either that text or in the radio interview and for any misleading choice of words that's helped to cause distress or misunderstanding among the public at large, and especially among my fellow Christians.''

But I never thought I'd hear that line from the Archbishop of Canterbury - but there it is. They are weasel words.

The world is at fault but Rowan Williams only mistake was to fail to appreciate how stupid everyone else is, and to take that into account.

He has then gone further to claim his role as the correct spokesperson for other faiths ! Remember Christianity claims exclusive knowledge of the truth. If you are a Christian you cannot believe - well Islam's okay for other people or let respect other religions and leave them alone. Just as the same is true of Islam.

I have to wonder if Rowan Williams really is a Christian at all.

The Church of England is dying. It is controlled by a social-liberal elite that does not represent a vast section of its membership (the ones who won't all be dead in 20 years time). Only the evangelical wing of the church is growing.

I think a split in the Anglican communion is now moving from possible to desirable. The disestablishment of the Church of England will follow and the destruction of the state based upon its authority. If this happens then a large amount of the responsibility will have been Rowan William's.

Update: See the comments of Dr Patrick Sookhdeo, whom is an expert on the aggressive campaign for dominance of Islam and the oppression of religious minorities in Muslim country's - especially by sharia. He shoudl know as a Muslim convert he is under sentence of death by sharia.

Rowan Williams should resign

I've left the following comment on Peter Old's blog. Something similar on Cranmer's. Its no doubt very difficult for Rowan Williams right now, and I do feel for him. But it is now very clear he is not the man to lead the Church of England. [Let me declare an interest MiaS is a member of the Church of England, as well as a Christian].

I’m afraid Rowan Williams has shown himself unsuited to being Archbishop. He has given great encouragement to those fundamentalist who believe in turning Western Europe into an Islamic State by force and Jihad. ( It is reported elsewhere that edited versions of his comments are on loop in the middle east’s media ).

Muslims who don’t want to be oppressed by Sharia have had the ground knocked from under them.

He has shown great weakness to the Muslim world who will see this as confirmation of the superiority and inevitability of Islamic dominance. ( Add the Bishop of Oxford’s surrender of large areas of his diocese into this. )

Yes I know he didn’t say this. But it is the meaning being derived from what he said and these assertions were easily predictable. Hence his unsuitability to lead the Church of England or any other public body.

Christ had the wisdom not to fall into the traps of his questioners and not to say some things until the right time. Rowan Williams clearly lacks this.

He is no doubt of good man, and maybe a great man with great learning, humility and compassion. But he must still resign and the clergy must tell him to go.

The Archbishop of Canterbury recommends the phased destruction of the English state

I thought I could keep of blogging till 5pm but then the Archdruid Archbishop of Canterbury has opened his mouth to support Sharia law in England. (Radio 4 this lunch time on the World at One). (Just what does Rowan Williams actually believe in ? )

Lets be clear this will in effect create two states with two systems of law occupying the same land. That is not a recipe for healing communal strife - its the recipe for civil war.

We need to be a common people who are ruled, protected and equal under a common law regardless of race or creed. Those who don't like our laws should enter politics to change them by consent or leave.

This system of setting up parallel courts was the precursor to Irish partition and the decades of war that followed.

Get your insight into the future world the Archbishop of Canterbury wishes for us as it appears today in Saudi Arabia ( a country that will not tolerate Christian belief ).

Damien Thomson ( a Catholic) suggest the Church of england should sack Dr Williams. I agree.
