Just what is going on with the strikes at the Lindsey refinery ?

Did Labour repeal all the trade union laws and I didn't notice ?

It certainly looks like the strike is organised. It certainly looks like secondary strikes are in action. And didn't I just hear on the radio about a mass meeting with a show of hands rejecting and offer from the company - so no secret ballots there then ( that also looks illegal ).

Just what is going on ?

Okay I ready to get egg on my face if I have missed Labour paying of their Union masters by quietly ditching the reforms of the 80s, I'd just like to know where we stand.

There is something odd about the whole story.

Has the M+S in the peacocks gone yet? is the woolies unit empty too?

M&S is still there. ( Consulting on closure I think - EU regs ). Woolies is gone as are a vast array of other outlets.

And given the number of my friends who have lost their jobs in various lines of work over the last month I'm not surprised.

Something very nasty is brewing.

The unions aren't officially supporting the strikes, yet they seem to end up awfully close to all the negotiations.

@LFAT - yes they certainly give the impression of pulling the strings.

There's something that doesn't make sense about what is going on. Perhaps certain bodies are seeing how far they can push things, ready for a wider showdown.
