Is Labour trying to suppress reporting of Afghanistan ?

Apparently (according to The First Post) Max Hastings, a reporter and well known military reporter, is being refused permission to report on the war in Afghanistan.

The problem isn't the army but the 'political end' of the MOD. Ie the part time defence secretary Des Browne.

What are they hiding from us this time ?

I recall that Max Hastings called Des "Perate" Browne a part time defence minister in a recent Daily Mail article. You can't accuse DB of thick-skinnedness so it's plain that he responds by not letting Max play.

If so its not conduct befitting a UK minister.

The problem with Labour is they can't tell the difference between the interests of the country and their duty and narrow grubby party advantage.

Good exam technique - take the easiest question first:

"What are they hiding from us this time ?"

Same as always, the truth.
