Labour - they just do say whatever their focus groups tell them to say and then destroy the country by stealth when they've crushed the debate.
Update on No10 Shamelessness - see the following extract from the Press Assoc:
- Mr Brown's speech came days after Conservative David Davis announced he was standing down as an MP in order to fight a by-election on the issue of civil liberties and shortly after 36 Labour MPs rebelled against the 42-day proposal.
Downing Street said that the speech was not intended as a response to Mr Davis, but declined to say whether it was in Mr Brown's diary before the MP's shock announcement last week.
