Labour trail 26% behind - and plan to close maternity wards and cancer clinics !!!

You couldn't make this stuff up. The Conservatives have a 26% opinion poll lead ( so not just those who bothered to turn out to vote in the local election eh ..).

And at the same time Labour are planning on closing (which is what merging means) maternity and cancer units !

Maybe there a plan and justification for it - but good politics it isn't.

They held this news back from leaking before the local elections in the hope of keeping their vote up (25%) - wow things really are bad.

PS The 26% opinion poll hasn't turned up on any BBC news reporting I've seen yet (11:17pm) - they really are Labours best and only remaining friend.

Still not on the BBC website this morning, but absolutely none of the broadsheet websites had it on there first thing this morning either.

Very bizarre.

There is a paragraph on poll results at end of a teletext page that talks about John Denham.

Compare this to the way positive poll results get headlined on news bulletins.. and still they claim not to be biased.

It does get a mention in a BBC article about John Denham - which I'm sure started this morning syaing Labour minister needed to admit when they got things wrong - but in a classic twist now says voters confused by Labour ( the spin lives on - off to newsniffer to research further ! )

PS The BBC post is here - but how is it changing ???

Travis - we were thinking along the same lines. I've done a little research on the BBC article here - and you'll see they are trying to help Labour further.

The Guardinistas are starting to panic ....

I am shocked, they appear to have forgotten how to look after their own skins!
