End of the World Cup, Parlaiment on recesss soon - going to be a bumper Silly Season I think

Well those political class folk will be getting their last good rest this Summer before campaigning to keep their jobs and gold platedpensions, leaving the interns and spAd operating the Twitter accounts etc ... and more interns in the MSM to report on them.

Yes its nearly time to declare the silly season open.

What will this years crop bring ?

PS I'm willing to allow Labour's Owl pledge in, even though its technically out of season.

The week that was ...

So the second #SillyWeek has passed. I'll add the full list of links to the end of this post, after a little more research.

All in all my favourite was perhaps the pilot - though its also a bit alarming, perhaps only funny if you weren't in the plane at the time. It reminds me of that Russian airline pilot who crashed his plane after letting his son have a go at the stick. The last words translated along the lines "bloody kids".

Of course reality will be outperforming all our efforts anyway. However humour's an important tool we perhaps use to little, especially political bloggers. Anger and outrage often motivate, but humour convinces and changes hearts and minds. A thought for the next political year that will really kick of in Sept.

Two more days

2nd annual Blogger's Silly week is go for 26 July to 1 August

Its that time of year again. The MSM is on holiday ( or wish they were ) and any daft story gets coverage.

So its time for Blogger's Silly week.

The Aim is to Entertain ( whilst not being sued in any legal jurisdictions that your country has extradition treaties with ).

That means making stuff up and even reporting true stuff. ( Examples from last year here ).

Add #SillyWeek to any tweets and we may as well use it as a blogging keyword also ! ( I'll keep an eye on them and try to keep tags on the daftness here ).

Now to go in search for a logo this year ... ( any ideas gratefully received ).

PS The aim is to entertain, but not offend ( unless its politicians or the MSM of course ).

Update: I had a graphic - but for some reason I can't upload it on blogger right now. Must be a bug of some sort. OK managed to get it into the layout - but not the post. No idea why not.

I propose that next week is declared the silly season for blogs !

The press have their silly season as all the politicians go on expenses paid "fact finding trips" (maybe not this year).

Any story can make it into the headlines - and many do. The sillier the better.

Hence I propose that next week we have our own silly season. Let lighten up and go for the weird, odd, funny and even scary stuff.

I at least will try to avoid serious politics for the week starting Mon 27th July.

Go on - you know you want to ....

Summer reading

Just found the following, and even though I'm not blogging till Sept (again) this looks like the ideal addition to the Summer Season ....

Just a few posts from over the pond:

Protecting Big Foot
Doctors diagnose people as the problem
British Bureauweenies Turn Attention to Trees

All this and they don't even have Gordon Brown ....

Merlin was Scottish - so says ex-SNP candidate

Now your first instinct might be to insist on drug testing for SNP candidates ( maybe a good idea ) - but look at the Monty Python evidence below .....

The Telegraph takes a similar line even mention Billy Connolly but really it should be John Cleese as the enchanter (ok so 'some called him Tim' in this context - does remind you of Billy doesn't he ?).

The Summers here at last - silly as ever !

Update: The famous "Can I have 50 pounds to mend my Shed" here. If your not English and have high blood pressure you might like to avoid this link.
