If you followed Peter Bottermley's logic - you should just join the Lbaour party

There was a very polished bit of doing "call me Dave's" bidding this morning on the Today show.

Peter Bottomley deployed all the focus group tested poison to drip over the David Cameron's demand that marriage must end and be redefined as he instructs it should be.

Mr Bottomley tried to use the argument that the younger voters like it - and of course its implied the older ones will all be dead soon. ( Nice eh ? )

What the desperate Mr Bottomley forgot was that younger voters like a  lot of things that experience teachers them over time don't make sense. If you just went with the young then you'd have socialism - free everything and bankruptcy. The task of the centre right is to win the arguments and continually persuade every new generation. Its task in no less than the teaching of what necessitates a free civilisation. People are not born with this inclination - as the world so abundantly demonstrates.

Mr Bottomley council is one of despair, appeasement and abject surrender. He should hang his head in shame - and whilst its there he might like to pray for forgiveness and that he won't be bought to account on the day of judgement for what he is doing.

He demands we abandon marriage to the equality fascists because it might mean a few votes and no need to argue, and anyway George and Dave say so.

No wonder David Cameron put him up for the Today show.

Cleggie on the radio

I wonder if the producer on Radio 4's Today realises how boring their continual attempts to trip up politicians rather than learn something from them are in radio interviews.

Thanks to the line of questioning which was all - tell us about how you were stabbed in the back by Cameron and your plans to return the favour - all we got was the usual pleading by Clegg to his own membership that look the good things are all Lib Dem in the world and all evil is Tory. ( There will be plenty, perhaps most the the weird sect that is the Lib Dems who believe all that guff, along with our joining the Euro and surrendering to a EU superstate being a good idea - but Radio 4 shouldn't be about them. )

Of course Clegg could have stood up to them and just told them where to get off, but these days he lacks the self confidence and strength of character to do that.

Perhaps that's the news after all ....

Never mind prisoners what about service people keeping their votes ?

One of the greatest scandals of the 2005 general election ( apart the straight lies told by Gordon Brown about the impact of Conservative spending plans- but we all know the man knows no shame ) was to see British soldiers defending Iraqi elections when their own government had changed the election rules in a way that made it very difficult for them to vote.

I wonder who benefits from large numbers of service personnel being unable to vote ?

I bet the Labour party knows and is very grateful they couldn't vote.

Today we have the Human Rights people telling us we have to ensure convicted criminals who are serving their sentences to vote, and I'm making no further comment on that here, but I wonder what the position is for over seas personnel this time ?

This time the men and women who know all about Gordon Brown's lies and deceitful budget cuts of helicopter and equipment must be allowed to return the favour and vote.
