Lib Dem parasites denied new host

Nick Clegg's half baked plan to provide more careers for Lib Dem activists paid for by the taxpayer seems to have got lost in the long grass.

This is good on two points:

1) There seems to have been little thought about the purpose of a reconfigured second chamber. ( I can see a case for it, and there are some interesting democratic deficits in England - such as the absence of a representative body for the English and that large parties can end up with no representation - eg UKIP. But this was never the way to deal with these issues).
2) It will really annoy the Lib Dems ( a worthy end just in itself ).

Update: Perhaps a deal could be done with Labour in exchange for things that will mean more Labour professional political parasites sucking the life blood of the taxpayer.

Perhaps people could be selected for "Lords Duty" in a similar model to jury service. People over 18 would be randomly selected to do this service for a period of no more than 15 years.

yes that's a good idea - though perhaps you'd trawl a few categories such as professional bodies, trade unions etc ...

But random is good - it totally undermines the political class.
