Silly week is go !

OK some sort of guidelines were asked for so here goes:

For the whole of the week 27th July participants will mostly issue daft and silly posts. ( Moon made of cheese type stuff - or even some genuine left wing moonbattery that may be true - but just shouldn't be.)

If you want can I suggest adding the keywords #SillyWeek (twitter & blogger) so we can see what everyone else is up to.

If you want I can do some sort of ranking and prize for the daftest of the lot - let me know in comments... might even organise a vote if there's lots of entries and I'm still allergic to doing paying work.

Everyone else is having fun with the end of term - long political holidays etc, why shouldn't we ?

( James is that enough ? )

PS Copy graphics etc as you wish.

PPS I should point out that Silliness is in the eye of the beholder. If you think its silly - it probably is, if you think its not - you might still be wrong.

Superb - let's do it and we'll all promote it.

Some of us never do any posts except silly ones, old chap.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

Unfortunately I'm on holiday myself next week - this week actually, Friday, Turkey. I'll be gone for two weeks (just over) and will have no internet access where I am (in the mountains) BUT if I do find anything silly out whilst I am away (like for example Turkey is made of cheese - the country or the bird - I will report it immediately on my return).

I have added your logo/widget (with link back to here) to my 'blog and hence consider myself deserving of being added to your 'blogroll.

Man in a Shed said...

@Mark - I've a feeling I should have done that while ago !

It'll be done v soon.

OK, let's get down to business. The ideas of the twitter/widgets/daftest post are great. If you need any help, give us a hoy.

I took the liberty of promoting it a little round my blogroll.

Great idea, MiaS.

Thanks to all. Hope we all have some fun ...

I'll try select the most silly stories to comment on, but it's gonna be a lot of work separating them from the most outrageous ones.
P.S. Do you Brits ever take anything seriously? I hear you're sinking into a Sharia hell hole and you still have time for moonbattery? Oh well, perhaps it's a morale booster of sorts ... 1066 and all that!

I certainly intend to participate. Many would say that will be little effort and little change for me…

UBERMOUTH said...

I shall participate[although all my posts are silly]and promote yours[as James has browbeaten into it.:)]

Do you have any room in your shed?

manwiddicombe said...

Silly week huh? I may have just come into some spare time .. .. ..

Man in a Shed said...

@Cassandra - humour is certainly required to live here, but we usually come good once everything else has been tried first.

@Ubermouth - its definitely a one Man Shed ( no room for my other stuff in the house, books, the stuff I have in the loft, the kids or the Hamster - and definitely no room for my wife's gardening stuff ).

North Northwester said...

Okay then - posted over at my place JTAT and at the portmanteau The Voice of the Resistance.

Henry North London 2.0 said...

Ah sounds like fun Will promote

Nice one!
I'm definitely up for this.

Have already promoted it over at my place,
complete with a funky graphic!

Given the state of the world economy this is no time for foolishness. I shall be writing about boobs, beer, talking vegetables, mythical creatures and pies. Much the same really...

Man in a Shed... you're one of the few people I've ever met who likes, or even knows of, Renaissance. One of my favorites. Whatever happened to Annie Haslam? Her voice is so beautiful it can bring me to tears.

Snarky Basterd said...

As long as you let Americans who are generally silly anyway participate.

Post a typical free-blogger grumble (up to 140 characters) on my "Mutter" facility!

Croydonian said...

I have just the thing. The only problem is that I fancy posting it now....

Man in a Shed said...

@ Mr Charleston - yes I found Renaissance via Yahoo's old music service - suggested based on my other tastes. I had a google search about Annie a while ago, I have a feeling she became an artist or such.

@Croydonian: - I have the same problem. I have an idea, but I'm sure someone else will get it first. But since I made the rules I'll have to follow them.

@Dr Dave - Americans are welcome - the more the merrier.

People might like to note that the President of Pakistan has made it illegal to tell Jokes about him - now that's got to provide a whole load of material !

PS I note the MSM has a very definite "End of term" feel about it now, so why shouldn't we.

I am silly, so no problem.

Good plan, that by odd coincidence it coincides with my birthday week. Will try and hatch something hideous.

I shall give it my best silly shot. Will come back later to get the graphic. Great idea!

Just ventured on to your post through G.O.T. I'm up for it although I try and use the bizarre and silly whenever possible!

Doubting Richard said...

"If you want can I suggest adding the keywords #SillyWeek (twitter & blogger)"

How do I use a hash tag in Blogger? I really can't be arsed with Twitter

Man in a Shed said...

@Doubting Richard - Just use the words with the sharp sign first on your keywords for the blog post. It just makes life straight forward for the search engines - see the bottom of this post for an example.

Anonymous said...

Crikey!! This is all a bit serious!!

Doubting Richard said...

Thanks Man in Shed! Will duly post some silliness.

1.Can I just leave a post in the normal way?
2.How many posts per person?
3.Rude words included?
4.What's the prize?

Man in a Shed said...

@Chris:

* Yes but add a #SillyWeek keyword so it can be found.
* As many as you like
* Its your own choice.
* No idea - so don't get your hopes up.

if everybody is on vacation, couldn't we just sneak up and put our own personal locks on the capitol building entrances?
That way, when the monkies get back from Hawaii, Italy, Belgium (we know you guys drove to Amsterdam and we KNOW why) or wherever, they won't be able to get back in, won't be able to get their paychecks, and that alone will save us TONS of cash!
(I know I should have done the math, here, but seriously (HA!) I always thought we should have a way to top the British Pound. Ton works for me)
OK, well, that's all I got. Well, except, I was wondering what this meant...
