It's not a case of wanting to stop it, is it?

I don't know how in charge Brown really is any more. He strikes me as confused these days.

Certainly the First Secretary Peter Mandelson wants the EU to run things.

Alistair Darling does have some power over Brown (and even Mandy) in that his resignation would have reverberations. The public is likely to support Darling's stance.

Still, we've seen how Labour's "red lines" are crossed behind closed doors, so I'd take any assurances from Darling (and any member of this mendacious government) with a pinch of salt.

Frankfurt has been keen to get is hands on the City for ages. If Darling lets it go, this country is finished. Precious few industries to speak of, laws dictated by Brussels, loss of power over finances and taxation.

How depressing that the government have tampered with the treason laws. I'd like to see heads roll.

@Fausty - I'm beginning to think along traitorous minister swinging from lap posts lines these days.

Democracy just doesn't function when one side just lies with every breath and has the BBC to support them.
