9/11

Taken about a year and a half before 9/11. I always wonder about the woman who sold me pizza on the top floor and the lift operator who was making jokes to gee us tourists along.

Other thoughts on 9/11 here.

I did forget. For the first time the date rang no bells for me today until I saw your post. Glad you made it,not a day to forget.

For those who would prefer a more uplifting memory of the Twin Towers that celebrates human achievement rather than drags it into the gutter, allow me to recommend Philippe Petit's book "To Reach the Clouds" about his illegal high-wire walk between the Twin Towers. Gripping, soles tingling and an emotional affirmation of life.

It's just been made into a "Documentary Film" called Man on Wire along the same lines as "Touching the Void" (another good book by the way). Judging by the reaction it looks like it will be worth watching!

Wildgoose - interesting - I'd never heard of Philippe before.

It was a very long way up to the top. Personally it felt bad enough just looking out of the window, working on the structure when it was open would have been something else altogether !

Still the new building has a go ahead so we may get to see it all again.

Personally I thought the Empire State building had more style, but I only got up that at night.

But your right in some ways its wrong to define something, or someone, by their end.
