The spin from the Blair camp on Crewe

Alistair Campbell Donald Malcolm in the First post has an interesting take on Crewe.

He suggests that David Cameron does not really want to crush Gordon Brown - ( I have to say if this were true Dave has a strange way of going about it ).

But his real message is to Labour MPs. In short - David Cameron wants Gordon Brown as Labour leader, so you know what to do then boys and girls .....

The Blairite revenge is getting ready for Thursday .....

Update: Rumours are circulating that a coup is being prepared for Friday lead by Alan Milburn. Guido believes it will have to be the bottle of whisky and pearl handled revolver approach - delivered with a smile by Jack Straw.

No need to worry. Brown won't resign, even if it is in his Party's interests. Forcing out a serving PM would be too messy for Labour MPs to contemplate - they WILL let him lead them over the precipice.

I was going to say that he'll manage to hang on by his fingernails, but they seem to be lying on the House of Commons floor.
