Yes - but how many of these would have rebelled had it been a straight in/out issue, rather than in/out/renegotiate? All we learnt from this whole farrago is that none of the parties give a flying fuck about the voters.
Example. David Heath, our Lib Dem MP. At the start of this parliament, he stepped down from the Lib Dem front bench as a result of Clegg pulling their commitment to a referendum on the EU.
Last night, Heath voted to keep the status quo.
Quisling. He can forget about my vote, that's for sure.
I wonder if there isn't something beyond party politics developing here. I'm struck by the sense spoken by Gisela Stuart & Frank Field on this topic.
Its the party leaderships that are the problem, and perhaps the organisations that turn MPs as they progress into them.
