A cold year - at least according to my gas bill

So according to my gas bill and gas usuage data - its been an expensive year to heat the house, even if #ManBearPig man made socialism forcing really is true, which of course it probably isn't.

My prediction for next year is the dropping by a major UK political party of the backing for man made catastrophic global warming and its industry.

I'm slightly behind at the moment on the gas but not too far away. Utilities are going up on Jan 4.

There is a difference between weather and climate you know!

And even if your gas bill shows evidence of a cold year in your neighbourhood, global data tells a different story.

Here's a link to some data on the world's temperature in 2010:

Sadly, your gas bill is misleading:
- It may have been the coolest year in the UK since 1996, but...
- 2010 was the hottest year on record for most regions of Africa, South Asia, Central Asia and Arctic Canada/Greenland,
- 2010 was one of the 3 warmest years on record (i.e. since 1850) for the world as a whole,
- 2001-2010 was the warmest 10-year period on record.

Any party "dropping... the backing for man made catastrophic global warming..." on the basis of that information would be one driven by parochial ideology, rather than sense.

Alex - the big point about this year has been ocean current movements in the Pacific and Arctic - and of course continued unusual solar activity.

Really this says nothing about CO2 at all.

Its amusing to see the Warmist religious groups bleating on about Weather and Climate ( buyt sometimes about Weather when it suits them ).

The truth is they don't know. The ManBearPig argument rests on complex and inherently unpredictable feedbacks (with any accuracy - of course creating a model with cool graphics for the news isn't the problem here) in a highly non-linear system - which they keep missing large parts of ( remember they only very recently started taking ocean currents into the models ! ). Even the IPCC report says this - but never in the summary where the climate activists and politicians are going to see it.
