Rich Tee said...: Two problems in the UK, both these have a "chilling effect" on British media:

1) OFCOM impartiality rule. The USA abandoned its Fairness Doctrine in the 1980s so media can take partisan positions.

2) Britain's libel laws which the USA regard with such contempt that they just passed a law making them unenforceable in the USA.

These two things hinder innovation and risk taking in British current affairs broadcastring.; 5:57 pm

Man in a Shed said...: Part of me thinks this is comedy- and perhaps get round the impartiality restrictions in the same way that Radio 4 manage for all their left wing comedy output ( see the NOW show ).

Are web clips limited by OFCOM yet ( I know the EU would like them to be).

Maybe some sort of offshore arrangement is needed.; 10:49 pm
