Anyone else have trouble loading the Witanagemot Club page ?

Hi - is anyone else having trouble loading the Witanagemot club page ? ( I can see from other sources that postings seem to continue there - but for the last two days have been unable to access the site ).

See the survey right for a quick answer.

If you can can you add the current IP address to comments below so I can check if its my DNS server that's at fault.

Thanks.

Update: All is well again ! ( Not quite sure why yet - I've added the site to my opendns blocking whitelist - not that it gave any indication of a problem - that system is there so I can cut the kids of Youtube remotely without them knowing how it happened ).

My guess is that slow site response cause attempts to connect to time out - but I'm just guessing there.

Thanks for your help.

Just copied and pasted the address you printed...taken straight there, no problems from my end.
Just outside of Whitby, North Yorkshire

Could you - or some one else try getting the IP address from a ping.

Open a dos box and type
ping www.toque.co.uk

The IP address should then be shown eg:
C:\Users\Mias>ping www.bbc.co.uk

Pinging www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.251.201] with 32 bytes of

Reply from 212.58.251.201: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=244

Reply from 212.58.251.201: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=244

I've jigged it about a bit, changed the cache and redesigned it.

Any improvement?

There seems to be some sort of local problem. Both my XP and Vista Laptops are unable to load the site, timing out. But my Vista Box loads it straight away.

This is the only site that I have that experience with.

If no one else comments I would assume it a problem at my end - though I find it hard to imagine what. ( I'll drop the firewall in a minute to try again ).

That didn't help.

Okay I've got it now. I've changed DNS servers to OpenDNS, away from the server Virgin Media allocate by default.

All is now well and the response is fast.

I have to say this is rather suspect. I've heard of DNS servers falling over and taking a while to rebuild their database, but I have to wonder about purposeful suppression. I hope for all our sakes that isn't true. Will try to fire an email at Virgin Media to enquire.

Well I'm pleased that it's working but all that technical stuff goes over my head I'm afraid.

I can't imagine why my url would act any different from any other. It would have been interesting to see whether you had the same problem with urls on the same server (ie http://whatenglandmeanstome.co.uk/ or http://anthem4england.co.uk/ )

I have the same problem with:

http://www.toque.co.uk

http//anthem4england.co.uk

http://whatenglandmeanstome.co.uk

My ISP is talktalk

Will have to try this openDNS server to see it this improve things

Intresting - any public DNS server would do as an alternative.

I'm wondering if there is a deliberate attempt to suppress these web sites.
